Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police introduced wider truck movement restrictions on 1 October 2026. As a Dubai transport company, we plan routes around these rules, so here is a plain summary of what was reported. Always check the RTA website before you rely on any timing, as official details can change.
Reported Truck Restrictions at a Glance
| When | Roads and areas |
|---|---|
| All day, every day | Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, Airport Tunnel and the marine crossings |
| 6am to 10pm | Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street, and the residential areas of Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah and Oud Al Muteena |
| Peak periods: morning, midday and evening | Airport Road, Damascus Street and Oman Street |
| Not restricted under this decision | Emirates Road (E611), which is reported as exempt |
The Peak Periods
- Morning: 6:30am to 8:30am
- Midday: from about 1pm to 3pm
- Evening: 5:30pm to 8pm
Khaleej Times and Gulf News give the midday period as 1pm to 3pm. The National gives 1:30pm to 3:30pm and also lists Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, between Ras Al Khor Road and the Sharjah border, in this group. Because the reports differ, confirm these details with the RTA.
Does This Apply to My Vehicle?
The reports we read refer to trucks, lorries and heavy goods vehicles, but they do not state a weight limit. Check with the RTA whether your vehicle is covered, or ask us about a specific job.
Can a Truck Get a Permit?
Reports say companies with an essential need to move during restricted times can apply through the RTA website for a permit. Fees, conditions and approval times were not given, so check with the RTA directly.
What This Means for Your Delivery
- Allow more time. A truck may need a longer route than a car, so a map app's estimate may not apply.
- Tell your carrier the arrival time, not only the date, so that they can plan the departure.
- Check residential drops. Deliveries to restricted areas may need to happen before 6am or after 10pm.
- Sharjah has separate rules. Sharjah sets its own truck timings, so check both when crossing the border.
Need to move a load through a restricted area? Tell us the pickup, delivery and time you need, and we will plan a route. See our truck rental options.
